Frequently Asked Questions

Is this safe?

YES! It's 100% safe. We promise, your eyes are just as important to us as they are to you. This cutting-edge technology is designed by true experts in their fields — the most advanced robotics, computer vision, and A.I.

It's also been tested and approved by a fleet of doctors, lawyers, investors and risk-assessors.

And everyone agrees — there is no way at all it can harm you. And many clients have said the technology feels far more delicate than human application.

What if it pokes me in the eye?

Unlike manual lash application, there’s absolutely nothing sharp near your eyes during the process. Even if the wands were to break away from the robot (due to very light magnetic connections) and touch your skin (which has never happened), they are incredibly light and soft, rounded tips—completely free of anything sharp. Our wands also are as light as a hawk feather, so if they were to land on your face, they would do no harm.

What if I sneeze or twitch during my lash nap?

No problem! Our advanced computer vision and AI can “see” you and will simply pause until you are still again.

What kind of glue is used?

It’s a “photoinitiated” cyanoacrylate adhesive –while the main ingredient is the same adhesive used by lash artists, our glue is very pure with only 2 ingredients and has been tested trans-dermally in medical devices.  We rapidly cure our glue with blue light.  No UV is used.

What is blue light and how does it work?

Blue light is not UV and is considered completely safe by medical standards.  During lash application, eyes are safely taped closed, and blue light is angled away to ensure it doesn’t affect your eyes. Blue light ensures faster bonding, stronger adhesion, and precise curing for longer-lasting lash extensions.

Will the robot work if you’re allergic to lash extension glue?

If you have a negative reaction to cyanoacrylate, there's a high likelihood of experiencing irritation from this process, as the adhesive used by our machine contains this ingredient.  Studies show approximately 1-2% of the general population reacts to cyanoacrylate.  We're working on developing a sensitive adhesive option for the future.

What can I expect?

Is this technology going to put lash artists out of work?

NO!  In fact, our robots NEED lash artists to run them.  Lash artists are integral to our brand and service. Every appointment at LUUM is guided by a master lash artist. This technology is designed to be a tool for lash artists, not a replacement. Our goal is to extend the longevity of lash artists’ careers by reducing physical strain and improving efficiency. In fact, for each machine, we plan to hire 2-3 lash artists, ensuring that their expertise remains essential in delivering the best results. And clients actually feel more confident knowing a lash artist is with them throughout the process.

What does it feel like?

We’ve had people say it feels “so light and relaxing,” like “butterfly kisses” or a  like a little “lash massage.”  Many clients even fall asleep during their service (which is fine!).

How long do the lashes last?

LUUM lash extensions typically last about 3 weeks, depending on your lash cycle. To get refill pricing, you’ll need a refill within 24 days of your initial appointment. Since our lashes are bonded with blue light, they typically last longer than those applied manually.

How do refills work?

Our master lash artists begin by prepping your lashes and applying eye pads. They’ll carefully remove any grown-out extensions, then place you in our machine for a flawless application. You’ll step out with beautiful, fresh lashes—feeling fabulous every time.

Will you offer more dramatic looks in the future?

While we do plan to offer fuller, more dramatic looks in the future, our signature style remains natural lash extensions. We are committed to maintaining that beautiful, effortless look that enhances your natural beauty.  We call this the “gifted lashes look.”
